The real story of world wide development
So here we are. 2018. Anthropocene. World of development. Technology. Environment. Sapiens…
Now think with me: 20% of the countries are developed. They have an astonishing architecture, innovate more each day, have an outstanding transportation, have minor levels of poverty, educate most of their citizens, take care of street animals such as dogs and cats, develop technologies never seen, their economy constantly ascents, and they care consciously. Now: this is Denmark, Switzerland, Holland, Canada, The United States, and Norway among others.
Please re read the paragraph above one more time. STOP. Did you manage to see the defect on the categories for development? Of course you did, it’s in bold letters. Developed countries are defined as “a sovereign state that has a developed economy and advanced technological infrastructure relative to other less industrialized nations”. This is what we will be calling external development; it’s up to the government, organisations, big companies, and of course, all is possible thanks to the rising economy which is the combination of the concepts previously mentioned, and the income of the nation as a whole. Alright. External development: check! Moving on to the internal development (hope you’re still following). Internal development is the society, the individuals themselves, their actions, and their relations. This development is possible as a result of the education; school and/or college, and parental guidance. Both are absolutely crucial and play a role in the outcome of the person. The only distinction between external and internal development is the macro and micro level. Otherwise, there is no difference; there is more of a blind situation for most: if there is no proper micro development, we are not taught to care. If we do not care, the macro will still generate the growth (we always find our way), but will not generate our understanding of the big image of every action or decision we make every day, because there is not enough or rightful education.
Now let me ask you again? What is development? Do you see a micro/internal development in the 20% of the world that has had the possibility to evolve? I would like to hear what you think. If there is no internal development within the great majority; a conscious wise development where we see the impact of our actions, are we really that powerful? If we can produce and be gods of the universe, but not truly understand the impact we create, and ourselves as individuals, are we really sapiens? Are we really the wise man we were named?
